Here's what our clients are saying about us:
Mike delivered far more than we expected in this detailing job. A great business man, prompt reply to our inquiry. Arrived for estimate exactly on time from out of town, and performed the job when scheduled. On the drive home from our vacation, we were blinded when the sun was bouncing off the side of the boat and reflecting in the mirror, due to the extreme shininess.

As an individual who takes pride in caring for his boat, I searched online and found Mike's Marine Detailing. Mike performed his expertise in restoring my boat back to what looks as good as, if not better than the day I received my new boat 10 years ago. After observing the amount of time, effort and skill which was required by Mike to restore the boats normal finish, I would highly recommend Mike's Marine Detailing for any boat care and/or restoration.
We used Mike’s Marine Detailing on our Four Winns Sundowner and we couldn’t be any happier with the results! The time, care, and meticulous attention to detail that they put into the interior and exterior has the boat looking like it just rolled out of the showroom, it’s almost a shame to put it in the water. 10 STARS ALL DAY LONG!!!

How much will it cost to detail my boat?Price can vary significantly based on size, condition, location and the service being performed. We use a formula to determine a price per foot - which can range anywhere from $25/ft to $130/ft+
-
How often should I detail my boat?Maintaining your boat will depend on a few factors, such as: its exposure to sun, how often you use it, how it is protected (wax vs. ceramic), etc. Generally speaking, you should have it detailed at least twice per season to prevent oxidation. The more often you detail it, the less work is required each time. Preservation is easier and less expensive than restoration.
-
Can detailing remove the dull and faded look from my boat's surface?Yes - detailing can remove the cloudy, faded look from your boat (known as oxidation). Restorative detailing, which is what we specialize in, will remove the oxidized gelcoat and reset the surface back to the way it was when it was new.
-
Can detailing remove scratches?Light to moderate scratches can be removed. Deep scratches usually cannot be fully removed, but can often be improved to look significantly better.
-
What is a ceramic coating? Is it better than wax?Marine ceramic coatings are the best form of protection available for boats. They provide the same benefits as wax - gloss & shine, easier cleaning, and preventing oxidation. The difference is that a ceramic coating will do all of these things a little better, and last significantly longer. Carnuba waxes and synthetic sealants generally last a few weeks or a few months - marine ceramic coatings last 1 to 2+ years.
-
Do you offer mobile service only, or can I drop my boat off?We offer convenient mobile service at your home, cottage, marina or storage facility. We are also now offering drop off service at our shop at 505 Parkhill Road in Peterborough. (note: we can only accommodate boats under 30 ft at our shop).
-
How long does a typical boat detailing service take? Our Standard Detail can be done in less than a day for most boats. Oxidation Removal and Restoration can take anywhere from a couple days to a week or more, depending on the size of your boat and its condition.
-
What products do you use and are they safe for the environment? All of the products we use are environmentally friendly and harbour-safe. Most of our products, including our marine ceramic coatings, are made by Starke Yacht Care in the USA. We also use products from Lake Country, Nautical One, Jescar, CarPro, and 303, to name a few.
About Mike's Marine Detailing
Mike Scott
Owner
I started detailing cars as a hobby many years ago and it quickly evolved into a passion. After discovering that the boat detailing industry was vastly underserved in the Peterborough & Kawartha area, I shifted my focus to mastering the art of boat restoration. I completed several specialized training courses in order to serve my clients to the highest degree possible.
The business has now evolved to serve a greater purpose - to educate and inspire boat owners to care for their vessels at the highest level, and to elevate the growing industry of boat detailing to new standards.
